This October, Valle Verde will launch its year-long Inclusive Schools Initiative, a schoolwide effort focused on fostering understanding, representation, and belonging. Throughout the year, students and families will explore five pillars of inclusion, beginning this fall with Neurodiversity & Learning Differences. Many of the world's greatest innovators, artists, and leaders think differently, but were often misunderstood.

In recognition of ADHD Awareness Month, we invite all students, families, caregivers, and staff to join us for our first Inclusive Schools Night: Understanding Neurodiversity & Building Belonging. Together, we'll explore autism, ADHD, dyslexia, sensory processing, and the many ways people learn, think, communicate, and experience the world. Through interactive learning stations, hands-on activities, expert insights, and community resources, families will gain practical tools while celebrating the strengths and unique perspectives that make our community stronger.

At Inclusive Schools Night, families will:

• Learn about neurodiversity, learning differences, sensory processing, autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and more.

• Discover practical tools and resources that support all children at home, school, and in the community.

• Connect with educators, specialists, community partners, and other Valle Verde families.

• Build understanding and empathy through interactive experiences focused on strengths, supports, and inclusion.

• Enjoy dinner, refreshments and snacks. (Read: We will take care of dinner!)

We hope this event leads to a greater understanding of our diverse student population and the many ways children learn, think, communicate, and thrive. Most importantly, we hope it strengthens our shared commitment to creating a school where every child feels valued, supported, and belongs.

A quick RSVP helps us plan food and materials, but we know life happens, especially for families navigating busy schedules and diverse needs. Last-minute attendees are always welcome.

Why It Matters

Research consistently shows that when students feel a sense of belonging, they are more engaged, successful, and connected at school. The Inclusive Schools Initiative helps build these connections by encouraging kindness, understanding, and respect for others while celebrating the unique strengths that each person brings to our community. Rather than focusing on differences as barriers, we teach students that diversity is a strength and that everyone has a role in making Valle Verde a place where all students and families feel they belong. Through this work, we are helping raise compassionate, inclusive leaders who are prepared to thrive in an increasingly diverse world. Everyone belongs at Valle Verde.
